Bringing the Blueprint of Drumming Masterclass to AIS Budapest was a truly inspiring experience and a reminder of why music education matters so deeply. Hosted in collaboration with The Association for Music in International Schools (AMIS), the event gave young musicians the opportunity to dive into the essential foundations of drumming in an engaging, hands-on setting.
During the masterclass led by Márton Veress, students explored the three key elements that form the core of every drummer’s musical journey. We began with rudiments and dynamics, focusing on the technical building blocks that help drummers develop precision, control, and expressive playing. From there, students challenged themselves with coordination exercises and fraction fills, learning how to strengthen independence between limbs while adding creativity and complexity to their drumming. Finally, we looked at the different levels of building grooves—understanding how rhythm evolves from simple patterns into powerful, musical statements that drive an entire band.
What made the day especially memorable was the enthusiasm and openness of the students. Their curiosity, thoughtful questions, and willingness to experiment created an incredible atmosphere throughout the session. It was inspiring to witness not only their dedication during the workshop but also their confidence and energy during the live performances afterward. The level of talent in the room was undeniable, and it’s exciting to imagine where their musical journeys will take them.
